WAN-IFRA is looking for a Membership Development Manager to develop and grow our membership internationally.   The World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) is looking for a dynamic membership manager. As the leading global association for news publishers, weare committed to fostering international cooperation among publishers; sharing best practice in both business and technology; working as a representative trade body to take up common matters impacting news media business; elaborate and advance quality standards in the production value chain; and engage with public authorities, institutions, and other trade bodies to promote press freedom and the independence of news media organisations.

Our members are at the centre of everything we do at WAN-IFRA and we want to provide them with the platform to achieve this whilst delivering outstanding customer service. The Membership Development Manager is key to our success and will influence all areas of our business strategy and future growth plans.

 


 

Responsibilities - You will develop new business relationships by proactively building a solid deliverable pipeline for new business over the phone, by e-mail, local networks, and in person.  You will also develop and manage initiatives and campaigns to raise the profile and awareness of the services to potential members.     Reporting to the CEO and working closely with other departments in our main Frankfurt office and regional offices in France, India, Mexico and Singapore, you will help develop and deliver the Membership recruitment and retention plan to meet agreed annual targets. You will:  
  • Deliver net growth in membership on an annual basis.
  • Increase the engagement with current members.
  • As the owner of the membership ‘pitch’, develop membership marketing collaterals using internal and external resources.
  • Coach staff on a member-centric approach.
  • Deliver membership pitches to senior executives.
  • Build and maintain communities of interest for our publisher members.
  • Develop and maintain conversations with our communities across channels including social media.
  • Undertake market research in areas such as member benefit analysis, as well as satisfaction and competition analyses.
  • Help to ensure our new Salesforce CRM installation and upcoming website development supports membership priorities.

 


Who We are Looking For - We are looking for a person who enjoys working in an international environment, with a can-do attitude. The right candidate should have a passion for a sustainable news industry. The candidate should have:  
  • 4-5 years of work experience in the news media industry.
  • Sound knowledge of sales and marketing strategies and techniques.
  • Good command of written and spoken English. Fluency in German will be a plus.
  • Excellent networking skills with an ability to engage people at senior levels. Should be comfortable in moderating, chairing meetings and working groups
  • Knowledge of CRM databases such as Sales Force is desirable.
  • Ambitious, resilient and clear focus on delivery
  • Willingness to travel.
